Floral Friday – Daucus carota (Queen Anne’s lace)

My nickname for this Queen Anne’s lace is Summer’s Snowflake. The sparser of the flowers, like this one, remind me of big fat snowflakes.

Daucus Carota is basically a wild carrot. If you were to harvest it when it’s still a young plant you could eat the root though as with any type of foraging be very careful as this plant looks very much like the poisonous hemlock. Did you know the seeds used to be used as a form of contraception? Just a fun fact for you.
