Floral Friday – A Winter Sunflower

Even after its petals have dropped a sunflower still has something to give. Seeds to the birds and the memory of sun on your face and the fragrance that comes from the garden on a warm September day. It won’t be too much longer before we’ll have blooming flowers again – especially if Maine’s weather stays warm like this.

  1. Nice photo Elizabeth – and very optimistic words!
Wouldn’t it be cool to capture a bird snatching one of those seeds! ! !
Yes, soon we will have flowers blooming – all plants/trees look a bit
confused to me – budding, growing green shoots every time it is warm,
then curling up to retreat from the cold yet one more time.
