Bond 23 – Skyfall

Bond 23 = SkyfallOkay people. I know there are the die hard Harry Potter, Twilight, and Pirates of the Caribbean fans but not me. Nope, I’m a serious James Bond fan. No really. I LOVE the Bond movies. Which brings me to this post. News has been popping up about newest Bond flick and I’m all in a tizzy with excitement. I love that Daniel Craig is back. I love that Eva Mendes and Javier Bardem have joined the cast. I love that this will be a stand-alone film not like Quantum of Solace that was like a sequel. And I love that it started filming on November 3rd!
This week I spotted this press conference (cliff notes version) transcript I thought I’d share from the folks at Spoiler TV 🙂
Hey Guys,

There is a press conference going on at the moment for the new James Bond film.

It is 50 years to the day that Sean Connery was confirmed to be playing Bond for the first time. Quite a landmark there!

* The film is confirmed to be called ‘Skyfall.’

* The film will be shot at Pinewood, Whitehall in London, China, Istanbul and Scotland.

* Cast List is confirmed. Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Naomi Harris, Ralph Fienes, Javier Bardem, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney & Bérénice Marlohe.

* Sam Mendes (Director): “I thought the story was fantastic, I love Daniel and Judi. This is an enormous challenge.”

* Bérénice Marlohe will play Severin. Naomie Harris will play a field agent called Eve.

* Mendes calls the script “fantastic” and has all the elements of a Bond movie. To quell rumours, he says, there’ll be lots of action.

* Javier Bardem will play Skyfall’s villain.

* Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli explain that the title Skyfall has “some emotional context”.

* Producer Barbara Broccoli said no one had yet been chosen to write and perform the Bond theme tune.

* Director Sam Mendes says Skyfall “is its own story. It doesn’t connect with the last two movies”.

* The film starts shooting today!

* A documentary is being made to mark the 50th anniversary of James Bond.

* Daniel Craig (on continuing past Bond 23): “If i could do this for a few more years then I’ll be happy.”

* Mendes says that the names of Fiennes, Finney and Whishaw’s characters are withheld because Bond fans might know them. Or they might not.

* Mendes has been put on the spot about directing another Bond movie. “If in six months I’m as excited as I am now, then yes.”

* Marlohe: “I’ve been training to fire guns for the first time in my life. I enjoyed it very much.” There’s palpable bloodlust in the air.

* Harris: “I’ve bene stunt driving and doing yoga three times a week to get into shape, and firing machine guns, which I’ve got a taste for.”

* Bardem says he’s been training his English vowels.

* Mendes says that Bond will go to the ‘wilds of Scotland’.

And that’s everything I believe… If anything else comes up I’ll add it later on 🙂

Excited about the cast? What do you make of the title?

Bérénice Marlohe is following in the footsteps of Halle Berry,Teri Hatcher and Denise Richards.

At a press conference for Skyfall, the 23rd installment in the James Bond franchise, the French actress was named as the next Bond Girl.

“I play a glamorous, enigmatic character called Severine,” Malohe said. “I’ve been training a bit to fire guns for the first time in my life, so it was very fun, and I enjoyed it very much.”

Daniel Craig stars in his third turn as Bond alongside Dame Judi Dench, Eva Mendes and Javier Bardem. Ralph Fiennesand Albert Finney also join the cast, as well as British actressNaomie Harris, who will play a field agent. Sam Mendes is directing.

Skyfall is slated for release on Oct. 26 2012.

I’m so excited!!! And if you want to read the full transcript of Bond 23 press conference because you too are a Bond fanatic – you can find them here.

  1. Hi E,
I’m always intrigued with people telling me they are James Bond fans.
I am not. But his fans cross all boundaries re people and who they are.
However I AM a huge fan of Sean Connery and very much into documentaries, depending on subject of course so I will be eager to see the documentary being made to mark 50 years of James Bond, mostly because I love Sean Connery. Once I lived in a 3 people household where the other two adored James Bond so I saw a bit of it myself. Anne
