Bond is Back!

While surfing around the web at lunch today I saw a headline that made me almost jump out of my chair with excitement. The headline read “Bond is Back“. Now that’s the ticket! I love the Bond movies. Seriously love the action, drama and all their cheesiness. 🙂

I’ve seen all 22 films at least once and a few of them dozens of times. I was heartbroken when I learned that MGM was in trouble and that Bond 23 had been shelved until further notice….and that notice looked no where in site…..until today!

From what I can gather the filming will start later this year with a release date of November 9th 2012 – yes it’s already on my calendar! Every time a Bond movie is released I go to the theater to see it opening day, first showing – religiously! When the last flick, Quantum of Solace came out we actually took an office afternoon and both my bosses came with me!

One of the things I’m most excited about regarding the new Bond storyline is that back in May 2010 it was announced that  international best-selling writer Jeffery Deaver, author of The Bone Collector, was commissioned by Ian Fleming’s estate to pen the new adventures of the British spy. “Currently known as Project X. Deaver is giving little away about the plot, but we do know that he’s bringing Ian Fleming’s creation into the 21st century: 007’s more xenophobic, sexist attitudes will be getting a makeover.” says the Guardian UK.

Side note: You may remember The Bone Collector as a movie released in 1999. It’s about a quadriplegic detective, Lincoln Rhyme, played by Denzel Washington and also starring starting Angelina Jolie and Queen Latifah. Pretty good flick actually.

I’m really quite glad that Sebastian Faulks, the last author chosen to carry on the Bond name, will not be penning this new adventure. I was totally UN-impressed with Quantum of Solace. Deaver has said he’ll be setting the new novel in present day.  I think that is where the challenge for Daniel Craig will be – all the drama from Vesper is long ago. It will be interesting.

2006 - Daniel Craig as James Bond

Hodder & Stoughton, a British publishing house, is expected to release the “Untitled James Bond Novel” on May 28th of this year, Ian Fleming’s birthday; though Amazon has a release date of June 14th. Whatever the release date is….it’s now available for preorder on Amazon! You know, in case you were wondering what to get me for my birthday in March! (the 21st if you must know 🙂

Now the question anyone is asked when they state they are a James Bond fan is: Who is your favorite Bond? My pick is, was and will always be Sean Connery, always. It won’t matter if there are another 10 actors that play James Bond Connery will always be my favorite. On the other hand I do like how Daniel Craig has played the charter thus far.

So who is your favorite actor to have played James Bond? Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or Daniel Craig
