This weekend in neighboring Camden, Christmas is off to a great start. Every year the weekend after Thanksgiving, so not to conflict with Rockland’s Festival of Lights, Camden’s Christmas By the Sea happens. The best description of the event is on the Visit Maine website.
“When the star shines atop Mount Battie above the seaside villages of Camden, Rockport, and Lincolnville, residents know that Christmas is near. Visible from 10 miles away, this 27-foot-tall landmark has been lighting the night sky from Thanksgiving to New Year’s for many years, thanks to the Camden Lion’s Club.
As the brightly lit villages snuggle up to snow-dusted mountains, another seasonal tradition–Christmas by the Sea–signals the arrival of the holiday season. Presented by the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce.”
One of the local news programs aired a small segment on the weekend event the other night.
If you in the Midcoast area be sure to stop in Camden and admire the festivities.
