Day Twenty One

I started to day with much excitement as today was the 4th annual Windjammer Parade. We walked out the 1 mile granite breakwater to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse to watch the vessels of the Maine Windjammer Association and Maine Adventure Sails (and other smaller schooners too) pass the end of the lighthouse in a parade of sail. I took over 200 photos and honestly maybe 6 of them I’m happy with. They came out terrible. The sun was in the wrong spot, the wind wasn’t blowing, sails were limp, the wind was in the wrong direction and to top it off my camera I could have thrown in the ocean. I’ve got these awful dust spots on the inside of my lens that only show up when I have sky in the background and fog – forget about it. Needless to say I’m soooooo disappointed. I wish there was another word to describe my feeling because disappointed doesn’t seem to cover it. To the right is a one shot I’m okay with but still not terribly pleased.

So the photo of the day…… I had anticipated having a hard time choosing one photo because of all the wonderful ones I was going to end up with. Instead I’m have a hard time choose for the exact opposite reason. Needless to say one photo I am quite happy with is the one below….and of course has some sort of flower in it. How original of me. 😦 I call these flowers sea peas. I’m sure they have a real name, but I don’t know it. My husband would be shocked – he think I know all the flower names.

Tomorrow we go strawberry picking at the farm. Hopefully a better day for photographing.

  1. I’ve got one word for you “PHOTOSHOP”……or as Frank would say “Post Production”
