Rockland Maine Sunset

The other day as I was leaving work I could see that it was going to be a lovely sunset. As fast as I could drive (legally) I raced over to a side street that has a good size hill and looks out over the west side of Rockland Maine. When I got to the top this is what I saw. You gotta love a good sunset.

Photo Journey – Christmas in Rockland

I couldn’t tell you when I first started to love making photographs. I’m not one of those ‘I’ve been taking photos since I was a kid’ kind of stories. It’s been gradual; less than 10 years that I’ve really enjoyed the art. I find the more I shoot the more particular I get about the who, what, when and where of my shots and the more I develop my own style and preferences. Seven plus years ago I really started to make photos that I was proud of. Looking back at those now I can’t stand most of them….funny how that works. :) It was only a few years ago that my daughter started to enjoy taking photos too. She love to follow me around and photograph what I’m photographing, especially at the Farmer’s Markets and Botanical Gardens.

A couple of weeks ago she and I went out for a photo journey with the theme ‘Christmas in Rockland’ in mind. This was our first photo walk and we’ve since decided that once a month or so we will go somewhere in Maine with a theme in mind and just take photos then  come home and look at them together. I love this for two reasons. One  - it gives us time together which I adore and two – it is a great hobby for her to have and perhaps it will develop into more as she learns and grows.

Here are some shots from our photo journey around Rockland.
