I’m excited for a night of new shows on ABC but after last night’s 200th episode of NCIS and a hilarious New Girl ABC has their work cut out for them – though I have faith my shows will make me laugh. Oh and did you know that Greg Kinnear is a guest on tonight’s Modern Family and on Revenge William Devane plays the senior Mr. Grayson? Great guests.

The other networks are also new across the board from Fox with reality shows to NBC with some laughs, news and drama.

Also we can’t forget there is a new Royal Pains AND a Top Chef Texas on cable tonight!

Happy Endings: The St. Valentine’s Day Maxssacre- Valentine’s Day isn’t all hearts and flowers for the gang as Penny wants to break up with her boyfriend. Dave fears his girlfriend is getting ready to dump him and Brad’s plans for a perfect outing with Jane take a hit because of dental problems. Meanwhile, Alex, the gang’s expert on the holiday, searches for a party in a questionable neighborhood, and Max gets a surprise when his limo occupants include the guy he broke up with the previous Valentine’s Day.

Revenge: Perception - In an atmosphere of nervous excitement for Emily & Daniel’s upcoming engagement party, things quickly start to unravel: Victoria tries to regain the upper hand by using Conrad’s own father against him; Jack finds himself wandering deeper into the fray; the rug gets pulled out from under Charlotte, and even more so for Emily.

Royal Pains: Bottom’s Up – A Shakespeare production in the Hamptons is hampered by a run of bad luck. Hank is on hand to help, but it is Evan who must step up to save the day. Elsewhere, Divya learns that Raj is moving on; and Jack puts off treatment in order to spend a day fishing with Jill.

Top Chef Texas: Mentors – The blindfolded chefs must use other senses other than sight to gather ingredients for a dish. In a twist, an eliminated cook then reenters the competition and does culinary battle with the remaining four chefs. Here, their cuisine must impress their mentors.

It’s gonna be a good night I tell ya! There’s a new New Girl, Unforgettable, Justified, White Collar and the 200th episode of NCIS. Yep, that’s right the 200th episode! Check out this behind the scenes video clip about the episode!

This being NCIS‘s 200th episode got me curious as to what other shows currently on the air have also had 200 episodes. Here are a few: Law & Order SVU, CSI, South Park, Smallville, CSI Miami, and Two and a Half Men.

Knitting a Hat

For Christmas I had made Ra a pair of socks and previous to that A a pair. So it was no surprise that Ri asked if I would make him something. It only took me 2 1/2 days to make my first full size hat. I didn’t use a pattern just basic knit and purl stitches. I love how bulky the yarn is!

Monday Night Television

Now this is what I’m talking about folks. All new shows across the network boards tonight – Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CW – all new – all night. Wahooo.

I have been looking forward to this particular episode of Castle for quite awhile. I love that they are going back to 40′s era and doing a half period half now episode! Check out the photo for a shot of all the characters in their 1947 costumes!

I’ve been watching the last few weeks of Alcatraz and it’s just not grabbing me. The theory at first did but it hasn’t sustained. I’ll DVR it and maybe watch it later this week but with all new episodes of all the shows I really do like this week it may just fall by the way-side.

Airing tonight you’ll also find the series premiere/pilot of Smash. IMDb has a description that reads: ”There is more drama behind the scenes than on stage, as the team prepares an ambitious Broadway musical on the life of Marilyn Monroe.” I’ve already seen the pilot which has been available online for a few weeks now. The idea of a real musical (not Glee) intrigues me as I’ve always loved true musicals and Broadway shows. I found the pilot to be mediocre but I also think it will take a few week/episodes for the show to find its stride with so many fresh faces to the small screen. If you enjoy musicals/Broadway its worth checking out.

For me I’ll be watching How I Met Your Mother, Hart of Dixie and Castle and the DVR will catch Alcatraz. My husband will have to watch The Voice on OnDemand. Enjoy your Monday night my friends.

Hart of Dixie: Sweetie Pies & Sweaty Palms - Zoe decides that it’s too soon in her relationship with Judson to go to the annual Sweetie Pie Dance so instead she makes plans to have a sleepover with Rose, whose parents are going out-of-town. George misplaces the save the dates for his upcoming wedding which causes major trouble in Lemon paradise. Lemon wants her father to finally move on from her mother leaving him, so she secretly gets him a date for the dance.

Alcatraz: Guy Hastings - Guy Hastings, an Alcatraz guard, reappears. Although a good man, Hastings is being asked to do bad things and will come face-to-face with an old acquaintance.

Castle: The Blue Butterfly - When Castle and Beckett investigate the killing of a treasure hunter, they discover the case is linked to a mysterious homicide from 1947 involving a hard-boiled private detective. Castle realizes the only way to solve the present-day murder is to solve the murder from the past. The 1947 case comes to life through stylized flashbacks, featuring Castle as the private eye and Beckett as a femme fatale.

Gossip Girl: The Backup Dan – Blair must make a difficult decision about her future, the consequences of which could hurt those she loves most. Serena takes the blame for an incident with Gossip Girl in order to protect someone she loves. Georgina smells the scent of scandal and decides to follow its trail.

Sunday Night Television

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you already know the lack of new episodes is due to the Super Bowl – even though it’s February sweeps almost everything is a repeat tonight. It used to be that I watched the game for the commercials but in a year when my team is playing I’ll be watching both the game and the ads.

Speaking of ads I’ve been quite disappointed that so many companies that will have ads airing during the game have already released theirs. Dudes! If you show it before hand it is NOT a Super Bowl commercial. I’ve done my best to avoid watching the ones that have been posted online and was quite disappointed when I went to see a ‘sneak peek’ as they called it for the Mazda/Matthew Broderick ad – it turned out to be the full commercial. If you are not one for the sports but do enjoy the ads and find yourself not wanting to actually watch the game to see the ads you can go to youtube.com/adblitz to watch them all after the game or tomorrow.

If you take that latter option then tonight you’re either watching a movie or checking out PBS for 2 (1 repeat and 1 new) episodes of Downtown Abbey, The Windsors, or perhaps catch the romantic comedy Hitch starring Will Smith. And rest assured the rest of the week brings some great new episodes.

On that note I will be watching a cheering my team on (Go Patriots). Win or lose it should be a good game – two really great teams. On a sad note tonight also ends my favorite sporting season. I’ll watch an occasional basketball with my husband and will tune in for the antics of the All-Star Weekend in February but other than that it will be the occasional baseball game until next August when football returns. It’s my sport – what can I say.

The Voice: Ain’t No Sunshine - Season 2 of the star search opens with the “blind auditions” in which celebrity coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton choose 12 vocalists for their respective teams.

Masterpiece Classic Downtown Abbey: Episode 5 – While the family looks forward to having a private home again, cousin Isobel has other ideas for Downtown. Winter Ice Skating

Another one of our Christmas break activities was ice skating at MRC (Midcoast Recreation Center). I’ve only skated once and it was on a rink with very few people so I sat this one out and knit on a hat while Mark, Ra, Ri, and A skated. We all had a good time.

Rock ‘n Roll Snowman

This is a little bit late coming as this snowman was made over Christmas break. On the other hand it’s still winter so…..

This was a year that we had both my bonus kids with us over Christmas break. One of the few days we actually had snow Ri and A went outside to make a snowman while Mark shoveled. When they were close to done they asked if I had anything they could use for the face. I headed to the fridge knowing I had a carrot. I also found some button mushrooms and dilly beans. Ri wanted to use Mark’s old beat up drum sticks as arms and the idea for a rock n’ roll snowman was born. Mark is a drummer and has been watching a lot of drumming videos online. One of his favorite drummers to watch/learn from is Rich Redmond – the drummer for Jason Aldean. Rich is often sporting a mohawk – a bag of rosemary would sprigs would be perfect for a rock n’roll snowman’s mohawk. Here’s what they created!

I’m glad I got these photos when I did because the next day it warmed up and by noon the smile had turned to a frown as he melted away and by dinner he had no head! That’s the great things about snowmen – you build and enjoy them and then with the next snowfall you get to do it all over again.

TV Listings – Yay or Nay

I’ve been on a writing hiatus with a back injury and haven’t done much blogging, writing or really much of anything this past week. This included the Watch List/TV Listing posts. I love doing them but am a bit curious if you might have been relieved to not see them for a week. So….leave me a comment and let me know yay or nay. I ended up making 3 photos for today’s challenge. The first is of a page inside the book (cookbook) I am currently reading. The second is the cover of the aforementioned. And the third photo is a shot of one of the several Words With Friends/Scrabble games I’m playing online.

February Photo Project

Twice now I’ve started a Project 365 where you take a photo everyday for a whole year and both times I’ve failed to make it. I love the idea of doing this so that I am consistently making photographs and developing my skill. When I read about February Photo A Day I thought why not give a month a try?! I can do this for 29 days. I actually saw this on Facebook via my pal Allison who is also doing the project. She has posted the jpg below with a topic for every day of the month. Even better – I don’t have to think about the what just the how. Now we’re talking.

With today being the first day of February …..away we go!

I know this isn’t very exciting but my view for most of the day has been on my back looking up at the ceiling. I have finally figured out how to get online while laying down though.
