This week’s Floral Friday photo is….well I’m not sure it really counts as a flower but I’m posting it anyway. So there. I love how Christmas-y these look along the side of the road.

Just the other day I walked outside and out of the corner of my eye saw a flash of yellow in the strawberry patch. This lone dandelion. Such a strange sight for the first week of December but it was a lovely splash of color among the green and red leaves.

There is snow in the forecast for tomorrow though I’m hoping that because I’m here on the coast it will just be rain. But given that there is a chance I didn’t want to lose the last of my garden veggies. I had a few rows of spinach left to pick and 3 stalks of [...]

At the Rockland Farmer’s Market there’s a display that catches my attention every week. It’s the flower stand. I know shocker, right?!? I’ve always been a flower child. When looking thru my baby book most of the photos have in picking flowers, in a flower field, in the flower garden or wearing flowers. There’s just [...]

I’ve been getting flowers to cut since August and doing so regularly has kept them producing more and [...]

I love the bright sun-shiny days that seem to last forever as the days are at their longest in mid June. But just as much as I love those days I also love the overcast drizzling days that make us want to slow the pace of the day. One of those days this past June [...]

By early June most of the tulips, crocus, and daffodils have gone by and we’re onto the late-blooming spring flowers and early blooming summer one. One of these is the Oriental poppy. I was out taking a walk around the house/office/garden and I noticed that this poppy was about to bloom. It wasn’t 2 hours [...]
It’s Strawberry Season in Maine!

Two years ago I decided I wanted to add strawberries to my garden. With the perfect spot picked out and the strawberry runners my boss was digging up 20 or so plants came home with me. Would you like to take a guess as to how many strawberries I got that first year? Zero, a [...]
